The Battle of The Alamo
In late February of 1836, 180 Texan soldiers, led by Colonel Willam Barret Travis, made their heroic stand against the vastly superior Mexican army. They stood their ground for 13 days, before defeated and slaughtered by the army. Although the Mexicans obtained the Alamo, the Texans took the battle as a symbol of American honor and courage and fought until independence from Mexico, chanting "Remember the Alamo!"
